How is Sapiens funded?
Sapiens combines different sources of funding: partnerships and grants with national and international organizations for specific journalistic projects, audiovisual production services, and direct donations from people like you. Every contribution helps sustain the team and keep our investigations and productions open to the public.
What is a recurring charge?
It's an automatic charge made every month, from the credit or debit card you choose, through the Culqi payment gateway. On the Site you'll see it labeled as a "monthly subscription," but it is a monthly donation: you don't receive a product or service in return, it's a periodic contribution to our work. This way your contribution continues without you having to repeat the process each time.
How do I donate to Sapiens?
Choose the amount and the type of donation (one-time or monthly) in this section, fill in the requested information, and confirm the payment. You'll receive confirmation at the email address you registered.
How do I change or cancel my monthly donation?
Write to us at contacto@sapiens.lat indicating the change you need. We process the request as soon as possible, and in any case before your next charge if you write to us with some advance notice.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Sapiens.lat is registered with SUNAT as a Qualified Donation-Receiving Entity, valid through March 2029. This means donations from taxpayers domiciled in Peru may qualify for an income tax deduction, within the limits established by law. We recommend confirming the details with your own tax advisor.
Do donors have influence over Sapiens editorial work?
No. Our donors' support is what makes our work possible, but editorial decisions (what we investigate, how we tell it, and when we publish it) are made exclusively by Sapiens' journalistic team, independently of any commercial or donation relationship.
What personal data does Sapiens collect when it receives my donation?
The data needed to process your donation and send you the confirmation and corresponding receipt, such as your email address. Your card data is processed directly by Culqi under its own security protocols; Sapiens does not access that information. You can review the full details in our Terms and Conditions for Donations.
